Hello, welcome back to the staff room. This week, pre-corrections. Reminding students what to do before they get the chance to do the wrong thing. Here's where it usually goes wrong.

Your year nines come in loud after recess every time, like clockwork. So you're stood at the door, and what you actually want to say is, "Don't come in shouting again." Feels helpful, right? But it really isn't.

That's not actually a pre-correction, that's a warning with better PR. The proper version takes more effort. Straight to your seats, tasks on the board.

Because telling someone what to do is always harder than telling them what not to do. Nobody mentions that bit in the training. So think of one moment in your week that reliably goes wrong.
