Teaching One-Pagers Volume 2
The Wait is Over: Book 2 is Out Now! [FREE EXPLAINER]
👋 Hello there!
I’m thrilled to share that my latest book Teaching One-Pagers: Volume 2 is officially out in the wild—exactly one year after the first. It has been another labour of love, distilling edu-research and important ideas into practical, visual summaries for busy teachers.

What is Teaching One-Pagers?
One-pagers are ultra-concise, A4-sized summaries that share important ideas about evidence-informed teaching.
Volume 2 follows in the footsteps of its predecessor. It’s packed with 65+ brand-new, evidence-informed summaries and organised into three collections inspired by the seminal edu-book The Learning Rainforest by the edu-inspiration, Tom Sherrington.
I was fortunate enough to have Tom write the foreword for the book. Here’s what he had to say…

What’s inside Volume 2?
The structure of the book is based on Tom’s Rainforest three-part metaphor. Here’s the visual from the book.

Collection 1: School Culture
Lays the foundation for growth by focusing on the whole-school behaviours and attitudes that promote high expectations and excellence. It’s divided into principles (big ideas) and practices (classroom strategies) to support a strong, positive culture.
Collection 2: Mode A Teaching
Builds on the first book by exploring instructional strategies grounded in cognitive science. It focuses on helping students build and retain knowledge through techniques that manage cognitive load, secure attention, and promote schema development for long-term memory.
Collection 3: Mode B Teaching
Showcases what’s possible once core knowledge is secure. These values-driven one-pagers highlight student-led, creative, and collaborative learning opportunities—fostering a rich, organic, and diverse classroom environment where individual growth can flourish.
How do I use Teaching One-Pagers?
The summaries in both books can be used for:
Coaching Meetings – use as prompts in instructional coaching meetings to build a shared understanding of effective practice.
Workshops and PD Sessions – print, display, or include in slide decks to anchor discussions and keep sessions focused and evidence-informed.
Self-Paced CPD – flick through during non-contact time, highlight ideas, and explore the ‘Read More’ references when you want to go deeper.
Department Learning – share a one-pager ahead of a department meeting to spark discussion and unify practice across classrooms.
Instructional playbooks – group related summaries into themed sets to support new initiatives, mentoring, or school priorities.
Whether you’re using them as bite-sized reads, training tools, or catalysts for deeper change, one-pagers are designed to support real-world teaching—without the overwhelm.
Why the one-page format?
Due to their slim, simple nature, one-page summaries are less likely to overload working memory as they focus only on the most relevant information.
Well-designed one-pagers help teachers better understand the material by layering in multiple examples and chunking information using headings, subheadings, lists and diagrams. Check out the spreads below…
